Sending Instruments to Paraguay

Goal: Sending musical instruments along with a lump sum of money.

Where: To Escuela de Musica Herminio Gimenez, a small music school located in Paraguay, South America.

Why: The reason for this project is because the love of music in globally known to bring people together; and through the sending of instruments which then can start a new fundamental education (musically) throughout this third world country. It also gives these children an opportunity of alternative education and learning, and gives them a chance to learn about more then just books. Give them the power and knowledge of music, and the instruments to do so and to learn by.

The reason that this could be such a powerful project is because music if globally loved, and is exceptionally different everywhere one goes. So, if we have the power to help give these children the gift of music by sending them instruments to this music school - then they can teach them the power of music and how powerful music can be.

As of now, B.O.R.C (Buxton Out Reach Coalition) is in the process of communicating with the Head Master of Escuela de Musica Herminio Gimenez named Celso Bazán. Speaking with him (via e-mail) has been a delayed and on going process for about a month now, but is still a exciting in itself! As of now, we are awaiting for Celso Bazán to send some sort of CD, pamplets, fliers of the school so that we can then start the process of advocating for this project.

If anyone in interested in helping or getting involved and/or knows anyone that could be of help - that would be amazing! Considering Paraguay is a third world country and only about 15% of families have computers and only 6% of families have computer with internet; you can imagine that communicating is difficult at times and tedious.

So if anyone is interested or knows of anyone who could be of help or knowledge and guidance it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
B.O.R.C

Buxton Out-Reach Coalition

The Buxton Out-Reach Coalition is a youth-led movement that is interested in making change. B.O.R.C is motivated by being a hands-on alliance that directly works with its projects to prove that egalitarianism is possible. Our group is motivated by educating and helping make change towards the struggles that commonly surround us from social, class, economic, and racial issues. Our purpose is to motivate the youth and to strive together in hopes a “universal civilization”.

The Buxton School, is a small progressive liberal arts boarding school located in Williamstown, MA with a total of only 100 students. Buxton being so small gives students the opportunity to grow in a small progressive environment surrounded by a diverse group of co-ed students. The small size of the school gives the student body the opportunity to take initiative in our day to day curriculum, and in making change. Many of the enrolled students who are associated with B.O.R.C have been involved in youth-movements, protests, and environmental/class/political/racial/religious activism issues globally.
